Report - Irk culverts, Manchester, July 2014

The Irk passes through 2 culverts
one at Middleton beneath shopping precinct and bus coach / station,
another at Ducie bridge beneath Victoria train station and Phones 4 U arena.
Merging with the Irwell, under a railway bridge at Mounts bank.

Good to see they are clearing that silt up, although there is surely better things for UU to be cleaning up in Manc, I have a list for them :

The infall is the site of the old gas works, there used to be a big MAN holder there when I was a kid and one of the first structures I climbed in my youth, today it's a Tesco's or it was..

Good effort on Optimus Prime too, the weather was far from ideal last month and I'm glad you used some common sense on that one

no problem entering as its a drop,
but on exiting notice the rope was too short using a piece of scaffolding (picture 12) lying across water and stretching managed to reach rope and haul self free.

Hi, thanks for posting these.. I live in Middleton so it's pretty strange to see it appear on here.

Is that first picture next to where Middleton Arena is? Was trying to work out where you were exactly.

I assume the other pictures are from behind McBrides?
