I thought this would be the another ideal " introduction " post as i couldn't find a report on it.
Do please excuse the photo quality, Quite an old lot of photo's in the midst of a learning curve.
What history i have been able to find
John Smedley was founded in 1784 at Lea Mills, Matlock, Derbyshire by Mr. John Smedley and Mr. Peter Nightingale. This is labelled " The worlds oldest manufacturing factory "
Access
Access was simple, Wander round the back of the building and through an open door.
The explore
This is only a partial explore of what must be a part of the building being demolished / refurbed as the rest of the factory appears to still be in use. This turned out to be a pleasant find after deciding i was going out to stroll along the canal with my camera and drove past it en route. Only a small place, Done solo. I favor places like this which are " Vandal free "
