Leri Mills was one of Ceredigions first woolen mills. It was built from around 1809 consisting of several buildings; two tweed mills, a spinning and carding shed, a wool / washing shed, a dye shed and a craft shop.
Initially the tweed was sold locally to farmers and miners but for at least the last thirty years of operation the mill was open to the public, with demonstrations of all of the processes on view, and most importantly a shop that sold tweed, garthen (a tapestry used as a bed covering), rugs and postcards.

The rise of foreign travel in the late seventies led to a fairly rapid decline in business
Sadly the mill finally stopped trading in April 1981 and was initially put on the market for £150,000.
A buyer wasn't found and the mill remains in the family that ran it from at least 1950.

Was a lovely day when we visited & we ended up wading up the stream to check out the other mills, the looks on the peoples faces outside the village pub as we trudged past lol

Apparently another tree fell in through the roof during arwen in December. It is a lovely place not really much like it apart from the place that's a 5 minute walk

I never tire of this place. I was lucky to go both in 2014 before they were widely known on a solo visit to Wales. Then went back a year later with a couple of friends.

That's a shame but wouldn't surprise me at all.

I'd still try go here if I ever find myself in the area (middle of nowhere). It does look like it's becoming more and more exposed to the elements.

Still lovely and great shots. This and the place up t'road are pretty special old mills. As is the underground waterwheel a few miles up the road. Always like to drop into one of them when passing through.

Yeah Id go back. The tree had gone through roof since last post I believe & according to Shaun may be even worse now.

Thanks yeah there is quite a bit to see in small area there. great place for a paddle too!

Fantastic stuff @Bikin Glynn Love this place - perfect levels of decay with old stuff still there. The different coloured thread add another dimension.

Thanks its certainly worth seeing.

Fab images of this place. Still so much of interest there. The spindles are so colourful. And that wheel is great. Shame its getting so damaged.
