1. The History
This is a revisit for me so see the history on my previous report HERE
2. The Explore
Some places really do need a revisit. This was one of those places for me. I visited here just under two years ago. The first reason a revisit was required is that I didn’t squeeze through the small aperture in the back door to explore the former mine tunnel. Secondly, on my first visit I suffered torch meltdown. Both my torches had become switched on in my bag overnight and I rocked up only to discover torches’ batteries as flat as a pancake. I had to use my phone torch so the results were, erm, limited.
So rocked up on a rainy easter morn. Entrance is still the same as last time and pretty easy, just involving a scramble down a slate covered bank. The one door that if locked means no entry was open so in we went. Had the place to myself and this time did a proper job!
3. The Pictures
And we’re here:
The impressive view down from the rim of the top looking down into the area that suffered the explosion and was cleared:
And we’re down:
The lifts are the best bit:
An old light fitting:
And the electrics:
And we’re through the hole:
Along we go:
And out we pop:
And out into the open:
Tunnel entrance at the back of the pit:
Looking down the tunnel. No waders so one for next time:
Drill holes in the tunnel wall:
And back down the tunnel:
