Report - Loading Tunnels of Chance’s Glassworks, Spon Lane Junction, Smethwick, June 2021

Spotted this on a bike ride towards Brum, had a quick wonder in a few yards but only had phone light, couldn't see a thing so I returned a few weeks later on foot all CREE'd up with my tripod.​

It doesn't go far, less than 60m maybe. Spent a nice leisurely hour there enjoying light painting on my 50th birthday. Costa with salted caramel cake afterwards.

Nice spot there and albeit short, a good find!

If I’m right in thinking, the building looks like one of the glass factories along the canal, so potentially was a drainage outlet or loading tunnel at one point? Don’t quote me though, I haven’t wandered that part of the canal in years.

Glass factories does ring a bell. Thought I'd add a googlemaps link for the buildings above it. See if anyone can come up with a name.

Yep, they’re definitely the old glass factories but the name eludes me. Driving past on the way back from Manchester tonight so I’ll see if I can spot some signage as I’m sure there was a painted name on the side of the building.

Visibility was really poor as it’s chucking buckets so could not confirm the name; sure someone will know and fill us in eventually.

The building has "TRIKE" crudely painted in white across it. Yes was definitely the old glass factory though.
