Longcross Barracks was still a young establishment when it reached the end of its 29 year operational life in 2004. The land on which the the barracks stands was part of a large parcel of Chobham common which has been owned by the crown since the second world war, but it wasn't until 1975 that work began on constructing the barracks. The barracks are part of a larger complex of former military facilities in the area. The entire site was and still is surrounded by a tall razor wire topped chain link fence.
Visited with bauhausgirl. Access did not appear to be straightforward due to the above mentioned razor wire and high fences all round the site. However, bauhausgirl spotted something, and minutes later we were on the site. Nice one. Most of the buildings are now sealed up sadly, but we did manage to get in to what appeared to be the old bar area.
