First post on here. I know this has been done a few times and this isn't my first visit here, but it was a cold foggy day I was bored and wanted get a bit of content up and this is local to me. Maenofferen state mine is now a derelict site. The quarry was opened a short time after 1800 and was one of the biggest slate producers at the time being the main user of the ffestiniog railway. At its peak in 1861 they produced around 400 tonnes off slate. Nice little explore if you're in the area.

All photos are taken on my phone, edited but not sure how the quality will show on here

Not a bad report that - very thorough :thumb
Cheers mate. It's a cracking site to visit, even though it looks a mess, it all appears to be natural decay. Considering how long it's been derelict its relatively untouched. Find it amazing one of the miners over alls were still hung up just rotting away

Its a shame a bunch of items have gone missing over the last few years from those buildings. How are they getting on preserving the winch house? Good pictures for a phone :)

When I last went it was full scaffolding and completely water tight couldn’t see inside much though so carried on into the mine

Typical Ffestindidgrogg weather, bloody good shots for a phone, and such a pity to see further trashing and decay!
