Malsis School, a grade II listed property, was located at a mansion known as Malsis Hall on a 13-hectare site. It was founded in 1920 ans was a co-educational independent pre-prep and preparatory school for pupils aged 3 to 13. The school closed on 10 December 2014 due to a decline in pupil numbers, pressure on fees and a failed merger with Giggleswick School.
The land and buildings were bought by former Malsis pupils Jamie and Jonathan Seddon, of Seddon Developments Ltd, and plans to turn the site into a psychological trauma care facility and 67 new houses have been approved.
Lack of vandalism made this place enjoyable to explore and the design of the building contained so many fine details it was worth taking extra time to have a closer look. Having failed a number of locations earlier on in the day it was a successful back-up option and was well worth the trip.
