Right, so I thought I'd make a report for this anyway, despite already being beaten to it by EOA
History
Megatron is a culverted section of the River Sheaf, just under a mile long, that runs from opposite the McDonalds on Farm Rd, under the railway station and joins up with the River Don adjacent to the Blonk St bridge. Along its course the Porter Brook joins the Sheaf under the southern end of the station.
The Explore
Explored with @KM_Punk , @Yorrick , @EOA , @Snake Oil and @Darryl Kinney on our Megatron mini-meet. Despite the weather looking a little dodgy in the days leading up to it, we had a good day out in the steel city exploring this underground wonder that's practically a rite of passage.
Thanks to KM_Punk for making this happen (after some badgering), and Yorrick for being our chauffeur.
The Porter brook before it joins up with the River Sheaf (in the opposite direction)
The junction where the Porter brook joins the Sheaf
"Oooooh look, a photo opportunity"
...I can't talk, I got one too, but the other side
There's some really nice stonework down there...
Is it the gradient of the land, or is that KM_Punk having a rest?
...and it continues
Another photo opportunity
Nearing the outfall...
...and last but not least... the arch.
Thanks for looking!
