Megatron needs no introduction but here's a little history.
Sheffield Midland Station opened in 1870 upon the opening the New Route of the Midland Main Line.
The area was insalubrious and swampy. To accommodate the station, the River Sheaf and the Porter Brook were partially covered and the station built above the rivers.
Ponds Forge and the Electric Light Works were directly North of Midland station and also built above the Sheaf. The last portion of Megatron is now under Castle Market and was covered later.
This trip was a group one with persons from all over the Midlands and Yorkshire.
