History from Nightvision but I'm sure you all know anyway…
Middleton limestone mine is an extensive working running between Middleton-by-Wirksworth and Hopton Wood. Underground working started here in 1959, and ceased in about 2005, although the current owners (Omya) have not given up the lease.
Explored with - too many to remember lol but if you was there please comment and thanks for a very eventful night!!
The explore -
Met up with with a few others at The Rising Sun then headed off to the Mine, did the long walk in and set up camp
after a while of unpacking and chatting most of the group went off to have a nosey and take some pics while we were doing this we heard a faint noise of a car and ran for cover, after a few minutes I thought we must be hearing things and went on to snap the digger and so on, then we heard it again but a little louder one of the group said he'll go and have a look and wondered off. 10 minutes went by and we decided to move on down one of the large main tunnels and then we heard a car coming behind us
we all switched off our lights and ran! hide behind a wall to watch a car go by with blue flashing lights!! We all agreed to get back to the camp site asap get our gear and fuck off sharpish! We all pretty much ran back to the site only to find the car there and it turned out to be two people who came late :laugh who the owner had bought a blue light of evilbay lol!! We all had a good laugh about this and then realised they had got a car in so of course we all wanted ours in too which is what we did 
Having only driven in the mine for about 5 minutes I got a massive steel bolt through my tyre
So I drove the car out quick so it wasn't stuck there and parked it on the road, it pretty much bummed me out so I went to bed about an hour after that and had the worst sleep ever! Guy to my left was barfing all night and one of the other guys didn't go to sleep and messed around making noise :crazy
Woke up in the morning called the AA got my car sorted at a tyre place 20 miles away (£150) and decided to go back for some pics in the mine which I missed out on
A big thanks to Liam and his mate who helped me out with the car
Anyway hope you enjoy the pics… be nice I know I have a girls car
If I ever sell my car privately, I'm defo using these images - one careful owner, low mileage, only been down a mine once… lol
