Hi all first report I've been out for a drive near Thors cave in the peaks and noticed a mine just after the cave its all been bricked off but would love to know if anyone has any history about it. Tried all the different entry points i could find.Definitely gonna go back and have a bit more if a look around when it's not as busy.
Sorry I don't have a better report or better pics. Peace

Yer you’re probably best joining a local caving/mining group……you will get to see alot of places for minimal cost and do it safely.
There are loads of mines around the country that don’t require breaking into if you don’t want to join a club.
Just make sure you’re properly prepared, there’s a guide on here for newbies to underground exploration

As D&B said bricked up adits present more problems due to airflow restrictions so you would need a gas detector if you found another way in otherwise you may not be coming out.

Generally if you find a gated adit like that there will be information online.
For the copper mines in Ecton Hill have a search for the Ecton Mine Educational Trust as a starting point in your research.

Some good advice given above , well it’s all good advice , main thing to remember is mine exploring is extremely dangerous even in the most simple of places as things change. I would agree the best route to take is join a club :thumb

must say I never joined a club but the more I go caving the more I think it’s a good idea for newbies,I was certainly very lucky at some points during my early caving explores which could have gone horribly wrong mainly due to eagerness and inexperience.

I've joined a club and I'm glad tbh, last place I went was a bit crazy, but then again there's a big difference in mines and caves
