Before Christmas i spotted an interesting little place for sale on Rightmove. A little pumping station in Cape Hill that, as it turned out, used to supply water for the former M&B Cape Hill brewery that was demolished in 2004. With a few quid burning a hole in my pocket and the auction less than 2 weeks away i popped down there and hunted it out. Now tucked away at the back of a modern housing estate at first i thought it wasn't really what i was looking for but the window was open so it would have been rude not to hop in and have a look inside. Once in my opinion changed. The wall to wall glazed bricks were amazing and it seemed just the right size for conversion to a small house. In fact conversion wasn't really what i had in mind, more a case of buy it, restore it and live in it. Apart from the addition of a kitchen and bathroom you didn't really need to change much. Now with a plan in mind i tootled along to the auction one morning and had a bid. Alas i didn't win it. Some goon decided it was worth £68k + VAT which was well over the top for a listed building in my opinion but never mind. I can still do a report for you all to see. I wonder what will become of it!
