This Grade II-listed building dates from 1876 with alterations in 1899 and was designed in gothic style in pink granite from Matlock by F.W. Waller of Waller & Son of Gloucester. It was officially opened on as a college on 19th January 1899 by the Duke of Devonshire. It originally housed the Municipal Technical College but later became The Derby College of Art – and more recently named the ‘College of Art Annexe’ by Derby Uni. The college housed its own art house cinema "The Metro" from 1981-2006. The Metro cinema moved into its new home at the 2-screen Quad opposite the Assembly Rooms in 2008. The building stood empty and unused until it was re-opened in December 2012 as a theatre rehearsal space for Derby Theatre. How long it’s sat empty since then I cannot say.

An old shot from the 60's

Stunning place, really cool. As an aside are you only one foot tall? As that appears to be the level many of the photos were taken from :p:p
