working on the premise "there are no stupid questions"...

I am relatively new to practical urban exploring, as have previously only enjoyed armchair investigations by proxy.

I have lung disease. While I carry inhalers , I would appreciate advice as to best sort of masks to wear and do they make a difference anyway?
Also asbestos.. other than warning signs, is there any way of me working out which sites are risky for possible exposure?

Based in NW and potential sites marked for a visit include Woolton hall, Denbigh, an Southport Grand Casino.

Any half mask respirator will do. Just make sure any filters remove particulates. It is long exposure that you have to worry about during many explores throughout your life, not worth it without a mask if you ask me.

As for asbestos, do not disturb it. When it is cut or brushed against the fibres will become airborne. So best just leave it alone if you do see any.

standard FFP3 rated mask will do for most explores involving dust, asbestos is best avoided full stop will get in your skin, eyes, clothes and generally going to be bad for your health. Industrial sites with corregated roofs are often asbestos made so don't go climbing on roofs or breaking any collapsed panels on the floor. With your health condition i assume that you aren't able to run if you need to (security avoidance) so some of the more notorious urbex sites with secca i would probably advise against unless you don't mind getting caught and risking a trespass fine (pretty rare to be fair in my experience they tell you to clear off on first warning)

Being wales you've pretty much always got a hill to climb so make sure you don't forget those inhalers have a look on the forum for locations already done so can get an early idea of what to expect. I guess for you planning is key to ensure you remain in good health whilst enjoying the urbex scene, certainly no reason why you shouldn't if anything kudos for not letting your medical condition get in the way just remember to stay safe

we are planning to probably try a couple of sites that are well documented first. I did Birkdale School for Deaf some time ago and it was fascinating. I've now found a friend as keen as me to discover a few places together so want to get into a bit more. Cheers for replying, and for the info/encouragement.

after some kids broke in the grand casino is very tightly closed and is surroned by shops in day and bars at night and i mean like bulletproof ones kinda like the ones at the main building of the birkdale deaf

it was ment to be in december but drove over the coast road yesterday and it was fine! its the same as the deaf school in how much decay has happened only sunnymede has been demolished.
