Heres some new pics taken over the last couple of days, taken by a mate thats working there dismantling the cranes etc..

The disused 'Dock inn' wallsend. I think they are swan's cranes in the background?

Thanks for that, love those old pics. Dont suppose your grandad took any pics of Leslie's yard on the opposite bank in the 80s?

Only found 4 from that side of the river. Dont know if its the leslie's yard or not.

Really great images there, especially the ones from the 80's. I'm not too sure about that being RFA Sir Galahad though, she was sunk in the Falklands War in 1982 but RFA Sir Tristram (which was also bombed at Fitzroy) was re-floated by the Danlifter and brought back to the UK for repair and re-fit, so it may be her.
