Report - North Weald Redoubt - jan 2022

Its been a long time since being able to do a proper explore but 2022 is off to a good start.

I have wanted to visit this place for some time and finally got round to completing this explore. We tried to explore some other locations during the day but couldn't find them so we arrvied here in the late afternoon. Safe to say, time was against us so we had to make good time trying to explore the whole area, luckily enough its a small enough place to visit.

Entrance to the area is easy and out of the way, you do get the occasional dog walkers around. This location is often used by other explorers as we bumped into a few as soon as we arrived and there is clear evidence that camp fires has been lit there recently. Most of the area is pretty destroyed and thre is a lot of flooding in one of he buildings which makes it completely inaccessible.

The back building is not flooded at all and there are some interesting rooms and hallways inside.

All in all, was a very good and easy explore.

Worth checking out if you are in the area.


All photos were taken on my Cannon 550D and Sony RX100 VII. Cant wait to get the new Sony A7 IV as that will help alot with the low lighting situations.

I enjoyed it here. We were lucky that we visited at the end of an extremely dry summer. So we could get in the usually flooded bits.

Thanks mate. We were quite shocked to see it so low. It had been after days of a drought though.

Nice photos. Always nice to see this place. Mike you were lucky, I really want to see here. The flooding is an issue that bugs me though, as Im that nosey I want to see it all lol.

I wonder why it floods? at original build they'd presumably have some drainage, maybe a clay/pot drain collapsed years back or something

Thank you for the kind responses everyone. We tried to get inside the flooded building through the stairs at the back, when we saw how deep it was, we was like 'no chance pal.'

I did see a burnt out vechile in one of the tunnels at the back, it did seem to be a bit too small to be a car though.
