Report - Old School House, Fowley Cross, Okehampton, Devon, June 2018

Don’t have any history on this one I’m afraid. Went before and was boarded up, came again recently as going past and could get access.

It was an old school house, not very big. It had two entrances at each end of the building which would of been separate entrances for boys and girls. Outside was a small block, the original school toilets.

There was a large outbuilding but didn’t check it out, as it’s on a main road and so exposed plus I’ve seen vehicles come in and out of that area in the past so must still be in use for parking or storage.

I’ve always wanted to see the inside of this building after passing it almost everyday from childhood into my mid 20’s, even working right across the road from it! I’m actually really surprised to see it empty, because I used to pass this property close to midnight and I would always see lights on in there. This was only 4/5 years ago and I was shocked because it looked just as dilapidated for years! I had no idea it was an old school house, so thanks for providing history along with photos!

No problem. It’s currently being renovated. And extension has been built on the back, being turned into a home
