Pakse in Lao is a border town to Thailand. Used mostly for leaving and re-entering the country to 'reset' the Visa back to 15 days. This huge unfinished building sat on a beautiful location aside the Mekong river. Guarded by an easily assailable fence and a small family that lived in a shack on its grounds it was an easy explore. Given the position I would say it was intended to be a hotel but it could have quite easily been a temple in the making with simple individual rooms for monks.
