Pennine Tower (Forton Services) was originally built in the 1965 and used as an up-market restaurant serving grilled rainbow trout, fillet steaks and lobster, alongside local delicacies such as Lancashire Hot Pot. The tower is 65 ft tall and 74ft across In its later years it was mainly used for truck drivers before its closure in 1989. The lifts were still original until 2017 and both being a special pentagon shape so the fit inside the centre of the tower staircase. This is why it closed to the public, fire regulations meant there had to be more than one way in and out.
Ok, I know its not an epic but its one that is fairly close to me and one I have given a go a few times over the years but never found a way up. People who know me will know I'm a bit of a fan of a brutalist building, so I was a little happy getting into this one! Enjoy the photos.
