Plas Y Coed sits just outside of Bangor, it was built in the mid 18th century as Lime Grove and was home to the Wyatt family which explains why there are quite a few local buildings designed by the architect Benjamin Wyatt who lived there with his wife Sarah and they are both buried in the local graveyard. There seems to be very little history easily available about it but it has plainly been added to over the years, mostly relatively sympathetically. Its last use was a residential care home and closed in July 2005 leaving a small sum in trust which was divided between two other local care homes where most of the residents were transferred to. It received grade 2 listing on May 24 2000. It's not a bad little mooch actually and still has a few interesting features though the copper thieves have had a bit of a go at it. Solo visit avoiding the hen night that was taking place at my house by chucking a sleeping bag in the car and sodding off for the weekend
