Report - Powerplant Cyklonkessel. Germany, November 2013

Cyklonkessel - German for a cyclone type boiler, burning crushed coal from a top fed system.

The main event from last weekend's burn across Eurp.

This report covers the power plant(s) of a factory in Germany. There are other parts of the factory but they're still live and a couple of buildings we couldn't find our way into. Still, GeoVDub, John Salomon and I spent a good long while here. It is definitely the most varied and possibly my favouritest place I've ever been too 10/10 bro etc.

Unfortunately as a direct result of the time spent here, I took a shit tonne of photographs, slimming them down into a report was a feat in itself, so there are a lot - sorry.

We'll start in the first (of two) Boilerhouses. This one housing the KSG Steinmuller Cyklonkessel.

Turbine Hall 1 - Dating from 1956. Siemens turbines and controls.

The plant diagram, one of the most unique things in the building.

Upstairs, Labs, Switch, Workshop & Coal delivery.

Next, the more elderly turbine hall and Boiler house dating from the 1920s/30s. I think from what I could tell, this had been decommissioned / mothballed as reserve alongside the younger powerplant. Once again, Siemens T/G and Steinmuller Boiler gear.

Over the sketchy rusty walkways held up by good luck and sky hooks to some other buildings, which contained the stores... rather splendid.

Boxed... unboxed, all sorted of goodness here.
