Report - Prisoner of War Camp - Northamptonshire - November 2019

My friend told me about this abandoned place that he had hear of in the village, I said lets go....
This Prisoner of war camp was built in 1948 and is all wooden buildings so its incredible that its managed to last this long. During the war the prisoners kept there would help out on the fields local to the camp. After the war it was used to house immigrants until they were deported until it was left for abandonment in the 1960's.
To get access to the POW camp we set off from my friends house and took a 10 minute walk, tried to avoid a farmers field, got past the stinging nettles and then we were in. Honestly felt like another world with it being so cloudy, misty and quite!

Quite like this. The collapsing roof shot is pretty cool. Would love more info. Doesnt look that secure for a POW! but then Ive not seen a working one lol

Looks like Brigstock Camp to me, it wasn't a POW camp. It was originally an emigration camp prior to the Second World War, then became an army camp under both the British and US armies until the 1950s, and in the 1960s became accommodation for workers of the nearby steelworks in Corby.

There's a rare hexagonal pillbox at the top of the hill just inside the tree line. Worth a look.

Is the shelter blocked up now? It's next to the shower block (last 2 photos)

Yeah the shelter is blocked up now...I think it was full of junk and was prone to flooding...I will definitely give the pillbox a look thanks
