Originally built in 1936/1939 by Quaker Oats, a company founded in Ohio in 1877. Many cereals were produced here, including Sugar Puffs (now called Honey Monster Puffs). Part of the operation was sold to Spiller's in 1994 and the remainder to Big Bear Group in 2006. The last thing to produced on this site was popular cereals like Sugar Puffs, Honey WoW's, and Honey monster waffles. Pet food was also produced on site. Eventually, the company moved out in about 2006. Cereal products were still made on site by Honey Monster Foods who produced Honey Monster Puffs until March 2015, when the site ceased production for good.
In 2015 Honey Monster owner Raisio confiremed closure of the Southall site.
In April 2017 Housing Developers moved onto part of the site and have since built a selection of town houses on the southen side of the site.
Following its closure and eventual sale in April 2017, the new owners of the former industrial site, Galliard Homes, have announced plans to transform it into a residential-led development, with 45,000sq ft. of the 880,000sq ft. earmarked for commercial use. However, before any demolition and building work can begin, the existing gas and infrastructure has to be disconnected and dismantled and that is currently on going.

The explore was overall a good one. It was nice to have an office section and a factory all in one explore, almost seemed like two separate explores. Unfortunately my camera run out of storage (Stupidly accidently packed a 2gb sd card!) by the time we entered the main factory. We encountered some security on our travels, no idea how they did not see two people with a tripod while coming through the corridor behind us! We also decided to go after a few days of heavy rain meaning the trek through a bog and the roof that had been turned into a pool did not impress my feet!
We were there for a good 4-5 hours and probably could have spent a lot longer there. Fairly sure we still missed a few bits!
Sorry for the low res shots, accidentally packed a 2gb sd card so a few are terrible quality. Thanks Apple!
The Amount of poo to be found everywhere in the factory is pretty astonishing.
The below structure is a lift. One person can stand on the lift and hold a little knob that sticks out. As the belt rotates, it pulls you up.
The warehouse was recently used for filming. A whole train platform was constructed inside. The security box can also be seen in the far right.
Stairs leading from the upstairs offices down to the main entrance.
The main entrance. Security walked straight passed the windows on the left and managed to somehow miss two of us with the lights on! The room is currently packed full of history waiting to go over to the new buildings museum.
A testing room where people tested cereals. A small kitchen/lab on the other side.
The honey puff monster going skkkrrt skkrrt on his cute 50cc in a wonderful looking city.
If you look closely, you will see below is an office. This is where people sit at their desk all day and debate life issues.
In one of the offices hundreds of different cereal boxes were layed out. Presumably for some market research. A few special editions as below.
The Sugar Puff's dismembered body lay motionless on the floor.
Nice view from the flooded roof/pool. Make's me want to do some high rise stuff.
I hope you enjoyed, once again, sorry for the few crappy iphone shots.
