My first post on this website is of international Urbex. The Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge goes over the East River and connects the East Midtown neighbourhood of Manhattan with the Long Island City neighbourhood of Queens. It was built in 1909 and is one of the most famous New York bridges. It has been popular for New York Urbexers over the past decade, my American friends have climbed it many times.
I won't discuss how to find the correct hatch but once you're inside the correct one you climb up the ladder. You're inside during the whole climb so it isn't difficult.
After you've climbed high enough to leave the hatch you do a dip and enter this section of the bridge that you carefully walk through
Eventually you get to a ladder that you climb up to reach the top of the bridge
The top of the bridge has a very large section to stand. Overall it's very enjoyable, climbing a bridge is far more exhilarating than exploring a bando. It does however require you to be adept at climbing fences and having considerable upper body strength.
Hope this helps
