Report - raf Bawdsey r3 rotor bunker - jan 2015

I decided to give this one a look as I had been given the heads up that it was open and I was shocked by the size of it, seen many plans online of rotors and have been in st margarets but this one is an absolute monster, unfortunately this site is suffering from a broken roof on the bungalow and is now leaking like a sieve, which is running from the bungalow, down a cable shaft into the comms room and in turn under the floor into the plant room. Other than the water ingress this place is in tip top shape and still retains many original features, although there is evidence of a little bit of cable stripping at least the place hasn't been stripped and smashed up yet, however i'm sure its only a matter of time :mad

yer, im sure there are a few in an awful condition, just seemed a shame as this one is in relatively good nick

Did my training here in 69 when it was the school for fighter control, shame to see it in such a state. I'm surprised that its not being looked after by the people trying to keep Bawdsey manor (the home of Radar) in good condition. Great report by the way.

It's owned by the same company as the one in Ash and I think they deem it surplus to requirements and as such are happy to try and sell it or let it rot, such a shame
