First of all I apologise that these aren’t in any particular order and poor quality (iPhone). I couldn’t find any posts on here with pictures from inside, so thought I’d post mine from several visits.
There isn’t a lot documented about Ridge Lea, but it was a mental health unit/asylum close to the old Moor hospital site. It stopped operating as a hospital on the 11th June 2014 but I believe part of the building was still used for mental health assessments until 2016.
The first time I visited with 2 explorers + 1 mini explorer who had been in several times already. Security were not on site, but there was clear evidence that it was still patrolled, and we actually set the sensors off but to our surprise nobody came. I’m not going to give any clues about access here because it would be too obvious. However I don’t think it will be long now until the whole site is literally a walk in. The last time I went which was 26.01.20, a few local lads had also found their way inside.
The place has really took a beating in the few years it’s been closed. The ground floor is the only part that’s still in good condition. This is also the part where the padded cell is, unfortunately the cell itself is locked but you can see inside and see where the medications were passed through the wall. A lot of stuff is missing from my pictures because I took a lot of videos and without putting them on YouTube and then putting a link, I’m not sure I can post videos on here? If anyone knows how I can upload directly to here pm me and I’ll add them at a later date. Tried to grab a few screenshots (the last few pics) off the videos but they’re pretty crap tbh... I’ll definitely be back with my dslr at some point
