With a little break in the rain, CJ and I decided to go check out a couple of leads in the local area.
The first location of the day was a small culvert, which carries the Brightley Brook under a work yard, before it finally joins the Hollins Brook.
After crossing the river and stealthing our way towards the infall, there was no real way of gauging the depth of the murky water, there were no loose sticks around. CJ gingerly took the plunge, and beckoned me into the icy waters. It got deep, as a pipe crossed the outfall at the level of the water, causing a large pool which we had to traverse. Up and over the pipe, it was just as deep on the other side although got shallower a short distance up the culvert. We soon saw light at the other end, and decided to make our way to the infall, and take pictures on the way back.
Upon exiting the culvert at the far side, we were met by a symphony of dogs barking. We could hear someone wandering around behind a large fence surrounding the infall - they must have been puzzled as to why the dogs were barking so much We quietly snapped a few pics and made our way back downstream.
