Thought I'd get a quick post up, Anyone that wants to go see should go quick
This site is fond for me, as my current oldest possession is a stuffed parrot, which was actually purchased from this zoo way back in the 2000's. Having finally discovered the old Christian holiday camp I stayed at all those years ago being next door, I quickly concluded this was the place it came from. Although I have no other real memories of this place, It was great to visit it just in time.
History
Seaview Wildlife Encounter, (formerly Flamingo Park), was a wildlife park featuring non-native species of birds and mammals.
It opened in 1971 and closed in November 2015. The visitor attraction was located in the town of Seaview, on the northeast coast of the Isle of Wight.
Animals at the reserve included meerkats, wallaby's, flamingos, pelicans, ducks, swans, alpacas, otters, penguins, and parakeets.
Visitors could feed the ducks and stroke the wallabies.
The site also included a gift shop and cafeteria.
The official website appears to have been sold off to a spam host, but the internet archive still holds its history.
Explore
Being that the owner (or just an angry bloke) lives in one of the houses overlooking the site, hiding from their views is possible but you always need to be aware, some houses have views straight down the main footpaths.
Sadly since other reports, many of the props have been removed, so its a bit more overgrown and boring, but the many cages and buildings left are enough to enjoy
Be aware there are currently as of a few days ago diggers on site and skips in the car park full of rubble. The place is getting pulled down seemingly this month.
