Report - Selborne Brickworks Hampshire - Jan 20

Selborne Bricks have been hand-made in the village since 1872 or later known towards the end of its life as tower brick and tile company went into administration in late 2009 and finally closed for business in 2011.

​

Cant find much history on this place at all but did discover the owner of Selborne Brickworks, John De Benham-Crosswell, 81, of South Hay Lane, Kingsley, admitted at Basingstoke Magistrates Court, to damaging or destroying a breeding site or resting place of a wild animal of a European-protected species.

The court heard on September 23 that work was carried out at the brickworks, in Honey Lane, between July 1, 2015, and April 12, 2016, which damaged the habitat of great-crested newts, including the draining of a lake containing the newts. Work on a site with a protected species must be carried out in accordance with a licence from Natural England. There was no valid licence in place.

Quite a decent place this really with loads of goodies left & its very photogenic, an uneventful explore for me, but iv heard the guy next door is best to be avoided :-)

Nice pics! Selbourne is not far from me and I would love to have a look round but I too have heard reports of unfriendly locals which makes me nervous!!! The other report I read, the guy had his car damaged and a fair walk in if parked at a safe distance.

We had no such issues, just be descrete & it's unlikely u would get caught.
There is only 1 house anyway near & it's easy enough to access from. Opp side
