1. The History
An old garage building and accompanying house that has apparently laid derelict for 30 years or more. Located on the A10 at Setchey, just south of King’s Lynn, Norfolk. Little to no history out there which is probably no great surprise. A number of classic cars remained in various states of rust including E-type Jaguar and a Triumph Herald. Unsurprisingly, due to the value of these cars, they have long since disappeared from the site.
The garage originally belonged to Alan Giles and the cars left behind were apparently those of customers who for some reason, never collected them. There was also a Chriscraft boat and a Riley Cabriolet left to rust and rot but these have also now disappeared. Circa 2012, the garage roof at the back collapsed, crushing many of the cars still remaining. A much-photographed yellow petrol pump that stood in the layby at the front of the garage went missing back in March 2013.
2. The Explore
Not particularly worth going out of your way for, but given I was staying round the corner from this place, decided to have a shufty round here on a very wet December day. Props to @Mikeymutt for the original report on this place HERE and the info on it.
The house alone here is of no great interest and would have seen the report head into the “fetid pit of despair” had it not been for the rusting old motors. The most interesting ones were at the back in the garage where the roof had long since collapsed, making them extremely difficult to access and photograph. Overall, though, a fun hour or so foraging in the overgrown buildings.
3. The Pictures
An inviting hole in the fence:
A quick look round the former garage-owner’s house:
Downstairs first:
Predictably all the fireplaces have gone walkies:
Then up-stairs:
Best bits were this stand-alone bath:
This vintage wallpaper:
And this old-dressing table:
On to the garage area:
The first lot of cars were sat outside:
Slowly rusting away:
The second lot in the garage where the roof had collapsed were the best bit:
That’s all folks!
