I was on the island ‘ and iv know about the rifle range for years just never borthed with it , the place is pretty open and public and always used by locals

but as from 2020 the future of the range remains unclear and also due to be possible demolished


it recently had a massive fence pit round it but local are still going inside th


The firing range dates back to at least 1906. But the first mention of the 'covered way' was in 1911

Normally a covered way was the protect soldiers raising and lowering targets on iron frames which have been removed. A large earthen mound further back was to stop the bullets. called the butts.
