Sidedraught Induction
Explored with @MartyZero , @Nickindroy and @Ojay
Sidedraught Induction is a relatively short culvert over the Gore Brook, not long after the infamous Gorton Falls.
The culvert starts off somewhere in Sunny Brow Park (get it right Marty!!!) however that is not our entrance point (more on that later...)
This culvert is around 500 meters long, and has a large variety of construction types. This has to be one of my favourite culverts yet!
Ill begin from the infall, where we see why we cannot get in via the infall anymore..
Shit festering blockage completely covering the gap under the grill, not to worry anyway.. off downstream it changes from RCP to brick with the brook running directly in the middle in a brick channel.
Which goes on for a distance..
Until we meet a split in the two pipes, featuring alot of water ingress!
On the right side, the manhole was pissing out a heck of alot of water!
No ladder?
On the left side, it was fairly dry (compared to the right side anyway..)
Then we pissed about with fancy colours as the drain weirdos we are
Down the right side we go!
Along the way, there were quite a few little shafts, and 1 fairly large one!
A fairly large shaft for a little brook
Some further downstream weren't exactly accessible, but made for some awesome photos!
Continuing on progress.. Always love a shower eh?
Sploosh Sploosh..
After a few more small shafts and more water ingress, the two pipes meet back up!
Which lead to a much more spacious brick pipe with concrete floor (and the odd pothole.)
We then meet up with a very large CSO
A little walk up this RCP and youre met with satans arse hole..
Poop.
This inspection chamber was huuuge!
Parky in ya fackin sewers!!!
It was time to step foot in the arse hole itself..
Ya fuckin poop soup
Flowed down this ramp which was awesome, to a large RCP
We didnt go far down the RCP as it was mega slippy..
After pratting about in one of Manchesters many sewer lines, we got outta satans bum and back into the Gore Brook
Carrying on down, it goes from arch to box!
Now ive been told that this part is quite horrendous for walking, and they werent lying..
There was every thing you could imagine down here, buried deep in the silted up shit and God fucking knows what else that's rotting on the floor..
We actually spotted a pet gold fish in this somehow living in that horrible water, however didnt manage to get a shot of it
Luckily, this section is not that long, and daylight was ahead..
Eventually, we made it out into fresh air, real fuckin oxygen.
Cheers you lot
Gortons finest culverts for me
