I know this was a well done place but I liked it a lot. I was meant to go here in 2014 but was down with a really bad case off whooping cough so had to give it a miss. Shame as it was a spell when it was wide open and no alarms and still in fantastic condition. I thought that's it for that one. Fast forward five years and I see a few pics come online and I was going to a relations birthday party in London. So this was the perfect opportunity to finally have a look at before the party. It really was an easy explore which sadly meant the locals were starting to get in. Luckily it had not been trashed yet and no graffiti. It did get a bit worse but luckily they started work later to restore it again. I think if not it would have ended up being burnt out. I gave a top off to a few friends to get there quickly whilst open.
The actors orphanage which started in 1896 to help children made destitute by the acting profession. moved to this former house in Chertsey in 1938 from its former home at Langley Hall. During the war the home was evacuated and the children moved to America and sent to local schools. The orphanage started running again after the war till 1958 when the lease ended. It carried on as a nursing college and this carried on till 1990. It was going to be converted into a rehab centre for paedophiles in 2002. But was met with such fierce opposition that it was dropped quickly and it was just left empty. Work started in 2020 and the staircase removed to be restored, which I think is fantastic. And apparently a pool built in the old ballroom.

Nicely covered. It was always a fav here. It was a shame to see it go this way. But seeing it from near perfect to this, and the last report I saw it had diggers out front. @zombizza s 5 yrs of decay is a great example.

I cant find my photos from here :( Great set youve caught there, lovely decay.
