Silverlands was one of my first ever explores a few years back. Earlier this month I thought it was time to go back to see it before the proposed development starts.
It was originally built as a private house however was then used as war hospital in the first world war. In 1938 it then became the Actors’ Orphanage for “destitute children of actors and actresses" until the 1990's. Now abandoned it was proposed that the building was turned into rehab for pedophiles however this was rejected. It has sat empty ever since.
Unfortunately this place is very ruined now. With nearly every window smash (and boarded up) there is very little light indoor. The first floor has also mostly collapsed. The building is now very structurally unsound. Inside there is a few new signs up from the new development sight warning of asbestos and structural issues.
This was my first time with the 8-15mm lens, unfortunately with it all boarded up its a tad dark and with no tripod i had a few issues.
