That years Cosford airshow allowed the chance to see behind the normally closed doors of the RAF museums workshops.The workshops had then recently moved from there long term home at RAF Cardington which was being closed down to a temporay home at RAF Wyton while the new workshops were being built at Cosford. Anumber of aircraft were at the time being worked on to take there place in the milestones of Flight building at the RAF Museum Hendon.One such aircraft was Tempest TT.5 NV778.which had being saved from the Ranges on Foulness Island many years ago. Now on display at Hendon in a very colourful paint job of a target tug.
The wreck of Handley Page Hampden P1344 was recovered from Russia in the early 1990s and was take on by the museum who traded a Spitfire XVI for it
Kestral FGA.1 XS695/A2619 had come to the museum via the navy who had last used it with the SAH at Culdrose were it picked up its Sea Harrier paint job to make it look the part.
Miles Mohawk G-AEKW had an action packed life from being built for Charles Lindeberg as personnel transport to impressed service with the RAF
