The third section of the South Crofty complex we visited. The mine is very old but was modernised in the 1980's with a new headstock and winding house. Today the mine isin poor condition. The headgear has lost all but it's emergency winding wheels, the winding house is in a terrible state, although does still contain part of the modern winder.
The other buildings are ivy clad ruins and reminded me of the temple in the Jungle Book! Round the back the mine's old workshops had been used in more recent times by small scale businesses, such as a mechanic and fibreglass boat manufacture.
Sadly a flight of stairs has been removed, making the headsctock un-climbable without serious gear
