I've been rather lazy recently and despite exploring over the summer months I stopped posting here. So a belated report for Standish hospital, visited on a rather lovely day with Clebby, Seffy and WhoDaresWins.
Pictures of Elvis was his face scratched to ribbons decorated the room which I like to call the, "I Hate Elvis" room...for obvious reasons.

History
Standish Hospital was a former park and country house that was given to the British Red Cross during WW1 where it was pressed into service as a military hospital. After becoming a US Army medical facility during the Second World War, it was nationalised as part of the NHS, specialising in orthopaedics, rheumatology and respiratory care across the whole of Gloucestershire. In this role, it undertook joint replacements, as well as caring for coal miners from the Forest of Dean with the most serious of respiratory problems.
The hospital closed in 2004.
