History:
The history of Stockport Village remains a mystery to me. I have lived in Stockport for 21 years and never even heard of the place, nothing besides the signage on the bottom of the hill, with no entrance.
A comment on an old report of this place was from someone saying they worked in the village in the 80's. If what I've been told is correct the village has been closed for around 30 years.
The Explore:
Easy entrance if you know where it is, although very public. Once inside you are greeted by what looks like an amazing little shopping precinct, back in it's day. Inside the village we discovered the Outline Gym and what was apparently one of the first UK Cannabis Cafes and gift shop, going by the name of Skunkport. One building was a Dress Agency, the only clue being a window vinyl. Due to the lack of information I'm not entirely sure what the other buildings were.
Any stories about this place would be great to hear! I'm still baffled by how this place was right under my nose, hiding away in a corner of central Stockport yet never seen or spoken of. A real interesting piece of Stockport History.
Anyway, the pictures
