Report - The Golden Martlet (AKA The Cuckoo's Rest), East Sussex (2016)

I used to drive past this everyday on my way to work, but never once took a good look around, until today!

This is the remains of The Golden Martlet (AKA The Cuckoo's Rest) built in 1902 (approx). Abandoned after a fire in 2001 which gutted the building.

I didn't look around the whole site due to it being extremely unsafe but I did get some shots from inside.

The the fire was started deliberately by the owner as a insurance scam, he didn't have planing for the loft extension that he built and was told to rip it down, so instead he tried to burn the lot down, he only managed to burn the top floor out.
after that the place was locked up and left, was a good explore back in the day due to how much shit was left behind, scaletrix, loads of vinyls records etc, you could even have a refreshing drink as there was loads of crates of Coke left in the cella
