So I took my cat to the vets on February 27th and as we got into a taxi to go to Birmingham City Centre I spotted this beauty of an abandoned building. this is the royalty cinema. it was opened in 1930 and was operated by Selly Oak Pictures Ltd. in 1935 it was taken over by Associated British Cinemas (ABC) it closed on November 2nd 1963 and became an Alpha Bingo Club. later on it became a Mecca Bingo until 2010 when it became a Gala Bingo which finally closed in 2012 and has been abandoned ever since. it was given a grade II listing in 2011 as it is an art deco building. the building suffered 3 fires between November 2017 and May 2019 and caused the main part of the building to collapse over time. now the main part is covered in grass, trees, mud and the basement is fully flooded. I have uploaded a YouTube video of my exploration of this building. i went into this building yesterday on March 3rd.
also on the topic of cinemas and bingos. does anybody know how to get into the Victoria suite on windmill lane in Smethwick?. i believe it is achievable as graffiti has recently appeared on the roof and the inside of the windows. (Access details removed) I know it's a bit off topic but I'm just curious as I've grown up seeing the Victoria suite. and it will be a decent explore as everything is still inside.
