I realised a couple of weeks ago that it was just about 3 years back when I explored my first drain (as an adult) - The Works!
Having somehow stumbled across Siologen's International Urban Glow website a couple of months prior to my first explore, I immediately knew I just had to see some of these drains for myself!
The Works just looked incredible, so after a some research, I had found it.
I wasn't all that well prepared for the explore as far as footwear was concerned, but I was soon wading across a rather cold river and standing face to face with an impressive 10ft outfall.
I also had no idea about light painting and long exposures, so the flash photos I took at the time were somewhat piss-poor. Whilst the photos were crap, the experience was captivating and I became hooked immediately.
After about a year of draining I wondered if, like all the other hobbies I've had over the years, the novelty would start to wear off. It certainly hasn't, and as each day goes by, the enthusiasm is still growing even though time is often an enemy.
I'd been saving up for a while to buy a new camera, and so for my 3rd anniversary (and 5th visit to The Works) of draining I finally got it and met up with ConcreteJungle and an occasional draining accomplice for some fiery lighing effects.
