Brief history: The airfield was a WW1 grass airfield which was only in use between 1917 and 1919 and was created to combat the threat of German Gotha bomber and Zeppelin attacks on Kent and London. It was classed as a Home Defence airfield and was manned by 112 Squadron RFC. Once the war ended it carried on but was disbanded in 1919 and the returned to farmland. It's was designated as an emergency landing ground during WW2 for Detling aerodrome near Maidstone. Some of the buildings survived until the 1980's and the Guard Room was converted into a residential dwelling.
The Explore: Not a hardcore explore as there is a footpath through the site, the remains to be seen is the machine gun range, and large number of ruins in the Dodds Willow woods which run along the perimeter track.
