Tried this place a year ago but was no obvious access so we waited for the inevitable to happen! was a shame but the place is well out there now so thought it may as well be posted!

The House was built in 1888 by Lord and Lady Daresbury – it was originally used as a hunting and shooting lodge and was sold and lived in by many different families over the years until the current owner decided it would be a fantastic and beautiful wedding venue.

Tilstone House is a luxury wedding venue. It has a Victorian style exterior and many traditional features within, such as fireplaces, staircases, flooring and the tall ceilings, have all been maintained but we have undergone a recent refurbishment to make it more current and contemporary without it being too modern, so it lends itself to all styles of weddings.

On the face of it this place looks in great condition but it really is a game of 2 halves!

In Jan 2020 the local news reports were thus.

Shortly before 8.30pm firefighters were called to reports of a fire at Tilstone near Tarporley.
Four crews were initially dispatched to the scene and on arrival they found a large 19th century timber frame mansion well alight.
Upon initial investigations firefighters found that the fire had spread to all three floors of the building.
Due to the scale of the fire an addition six fire engines were dispatched to the scene, along with an aerial ladder platform from Chester.
The fire was later said to be caused by an electrical fault but the venue never reopened.

Thanks to my non member mate for some of the pics as due to recent events I was using phone in here!

Ah I thought I recognised it, this is the one which is really close to that other mock tudor monstrosity Wild Boar Hotel isn't it? I remember seeing some photos from it about 18 months back but everyone was too busy destroying Wild Boar to notice this one, until now it seems.

Some stunning bits in there. Cant stand seeing a place like this set ablaze. Good coverage. Nice photos that show the beauty of the place.

The circumstances seem rather strange. So sad that this happened and the owner hasn’t saved it. Would have been such a beautiful venue.

Yeah shame but the fire was accidental when the place was still open I believe. it is strange that insurance hasn't paid out & rebuild done though.
Lovely that is mate. Had this pined for ages just never got round to doing it
Thanks, likewise went about year back & windows had been broke & boarded but we were not gonna break entry, it was / is being watched with lawns still being cut so I was surprised to find it open at att tbh

Hadn't heard of this place before. Judging by the two reports here I am pretty smitten by it already! I've always wanted to visit a derelict luxury hotel, like those wacky slightly gaudy/kind of elegant love-hotels in Japan. Cheshire isn't quite Japan and this isn't of course as quirky, but it's got dusty chandeliers, gently decaying elaborate faux-antique furnishings and spacious bedrooms so that's good enough for me at this time! Nice pics of the details!
