Look a look around Tonedale mills today, first one I was unable to gain access due to work men but I will go back but managed to look around Tone works.
History-
Built in 1830s and owned and run by the fox brothers. They were originally powdered by water from the tone river that flows through the sites The sites used for finishing cloth produced at the mill. It is considered a rare example of a 19 century cloth dyeing and finishing works.
They famously produced the uniform for soldiers in the First World War.
They employed at one point around 5k people and turned over 1.5mil (350mil in today’s currency)
By the late 20th century Britain’s woollen industry was declining, in 1992 Fox Brothers ceased production.

I believe that machine is called A Teazels, form what I have seen.
Some info on them Teazels were traditionally used to 'comb' the surface of damp wollen cloth by hand to make it soft and fluffy. This is called 'raising the nap'.
This machine was invented to make this process faster and more efficient. The teasel gig contains 3000 prickly teasels in an iron frame and is powered by electricity. The cloth passed over the teasels, giving it a more even, fluffy finish.

Ah interesting stuff. Never heard of a teasel before. Cheers
