Truleigh Hill was a Chain Home Extra Low (CHEL) site built in 1952 to replace the Chain Home Low Radar station built at the site in 1939. It was a R2 single level operations room serving a single Type 14 radar system. The station was decommissioned in 1958 and sold to a private buyer in 1965
The explore
After hearing this place was open from another explorer a group of us decided to go check it out i had previously only done beachy head rota bunker so seeing this in the condition it was in was amazing.
Note this place has since been resealed
Down the long corridor that on the way out we realised the lights still work so had to go back down for pics lol unfortunately on our next visit a week later someone had broken some of the lights
Evidence of the weed grow that was previously there
Main chamber
The whole place was in great condition concerning
Rooms of clutter and some vintage bikes
Had a good rummage through the two rooms full of clutter laid out a few bits for photos on the return visit somone had flipped the wagon over 🙄 so i just set it all back up lol
some barrels of something
A random buzz lightyear
some more of the things we dug out of the clutter
some of the features still in place
mmmmm some good old mystery meat?
A newspaper from 1981
Original features like this are what i love to see surprisingly still in tact and working
Thanks for looking
