Twelve Apostles Catholic Church, Leigh, Wigan - January 2024
A small catholic church in the Leigh area of Wigan which was built between 1927 - 1929 to designs by Manchester architect William Ellis and finally closed in August 2019 due dwindling congregation numbers and a shortage of clergy.
The archdiocese of Liverpool has recently applied to Wigan council for approval to clear the site, as it feels the abandoned church and the neighbouring presbytery are at risk from ‘vandalism and fire’.

Not a lot to it but a relaxed wander while in the area.
