If you’ve ever been the canal in woodley and seen it’s chimney, then you probably know of the mill here. Unity was a spinning mill turned into a chemical works and brewery abandoned in 2003. Some other threads explain it’s history better than me as I can’t find much, so check them out for a history overview

Exterior (pre demolition)

932495

932496

Prior to initial demolition, I only made one visit and got caught and kicked off, only saw a tiny section of the building that I’ll show now
932498

Storage room? There were a lot of switches here, what I presume a shutterand what appears to be lower floors
932499

‘Shutter door’ section at back plus the switches

932500

932501

932502

Office block and storage area from what I presume, however I can’t gather much as most of it was gone when I came back

Exterior second demolition

932504

932505

You can see where the hallway was, plus ‘storage area’ that’s been demolished
932506

Front left of full building, I’m afraid I don’t have many full photos of the front as getting spotted was easy, but there are loads of photos showing the front online

932507

back area plus maybe truck unloading area? It had a maintenance cutout in the floor for trucks likely so I assume it was that
932508

Destroyed building, ironically it was destroyed to stop second floor access, yet that floor collapsed making a ladder easier to use than the stairs
932509

932510

Demolished office block

Interior pre demo

As with most mills, the main building is completely empty so I’ll mainly focus on the additional buildings connected
932511

Large room, most likely had second floor as there are doors and filled indoor ways

932520

Other side of large room

932512

Extremely large open area, I asked my grandad as he works in some old mills and he assumes it was for cargo lifts which makes sense. 4 stories high

932513

Unknown room
932515

Large open space, it looks like that smaller chimney connected to it so maybe engine related? As the next room is very large and has vent fans

932514

932516

large open area, possibly engine room due to the fans and air ducts

932517

A vent duct and fan

932518

932519

Office block, extremely overgrown
932523

Jumping through these windows inside was fun

I don’t know how many photos I’ve used up here so I’ll move onto the next part

Part 2

The main building is pretty empty with the exceptions of large holes in the ground on floor 2, and a tiny section of doorways on floor 3

932525

First floor entrance

932526

932527

932528

very eerie, however the amount of switches to pull here was definitely fun. Tripping on those curbs definitely wasn’t though, it’s now full of rubble from when they dumped parts from the walls back when it was more intact

932532

Board room? It’s completely empty except for that thing in the centre, I don’t work with anything like that so I’m afraid I don’t know any terms or what it was

932533

Don’t step Inside. The spiders on top will get you

932534

Toilet entrance
932536

Creepy photo I got
932538

Very empty as you can see, not much to look at really
932539

932540

Nice photo taken by my mate
932541

Second floor, just as empty
932542

Random fire exit for no reason
932543

Other side of the vent fans

932544

Ladies toilets, annoyingly I got no photos of the lads toilets but I’m sure you know what they would look like
932545

4th floor, plus some sunlights
932546

Top of cargo elevator shaft, the staff elevator is annoyingly closed off on the top floor
932554

Top of stairwell
932553

932552

Nice view of Manchester through there
932547

932548

932549

932550

932551

Top of cargo shaft, its certainly fun looking down 4 stories to solid concrete and yes I did climb down to that platform a bit lower

annoyingly I’m likely out of space so I’ll get working on part 3 now

This is taking longer than I thought so I’ll try and speed though this
932555

View from top floor
932556

View of Manchester
932557

Random rug on second floor of destroyed building
932558

Second floor of destroyed building
932559

creepy basement 1, climbing over floor jack I think they’re called
932560

Creepy hallway that went nowhere much to my dismay
932561

932562

Creepy symbols
932563

Cargo bay? There’s a large trapdoor over this so I assume so

932569

quite the fill In

There’s nothing else in here besides a few gaspipes and gas outlets which are fun to switch on and off

932564

Cargo bay entrance
932565

932566

932570

932573

Some creepy photos because why not, plus the last one showing the different bays and markings on the ground

932567

Quite the collapse
932571

932572

Some no light photos for the horror effect
Because if you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares into you

enough Nietzsche, more mill
932574

Old fuse box, sorry for low quality photo. Plus is had actual fuses inside which were fun to mess around with
932568

Extremely creepy cargo elevator through some industry flaps, completely flooded and the door can only be partially closed

fun part over, climbing begin

Mill after demolition

I’ll sum the exterior up quick, all that remains is the main mill, cafeteria and outside toilets and cleaning facility (of which I have no photos of minus me incidentally)
932575

Cargo area panels removed, all exterior buildings removed
932576

Office block minus toilet and cafeteria gone
932577

Photo I took on top of toilet
932578

My friend with his bag next to cafe
932580

Inside cafe
932581

Me on the toilet roof after climbing through cafe window
If I can figure out how to post vids I’ll show how I got on top but if not then no problem

yeah that’s probably it. I’ve probably missed a load of photos and stuff but it’s never really interesting. Honestly if you want a fun climb then this place is good but this place is in such a state now I wouldn’t recommend it, plus it’ll likely get further demolished soon as when we were on site there were still a lot of diggers and other CAT machines (balaclava reasoning), so yeah, have a good day

Nicely covered. I'm always drawn to chimneys, commercial, industrial or domestic. Nice report. Nature has definitely got the better of this place
