The Victoria tunnel is 2475 metres long,
running from Edgehill to Byrom street.
There's 5 air shafts 4 vertical & 1 horizontal,
there's refuges on both sides of the tunnel criss crossing one another.
The tunnel opened in 1849, closed in 1972.
There's a 400 metre spur in situ for shunting, but seldom ever used.
