History
During the 1950s, between Willington and Findern on Twyford road, two coal fuelled power station were built. after a long time in operation, some time in the early 1990s they were privatised and sold the national power grid. This was clearly not the right choice as shortly after in the mid 1990s they were closed. since then most of the station has been demolished however, luckily the cooling towers are still standing, although they look like they have been attacked by the elements quite a bit since they have closed as pieces are breaking of and cracks are beginning to emerge here and there although I don't they are going anywhere anytime soon.
The explore
I personally am not the biggest fan of heights of large buildings however I am very glad for km punk for saying we should do this one as although its not a comfortable thing for me to do standing at the base and inside these towers are just breath-taking.
me miss mayhem and km punk where quickly on site and notice the beating the towers and any surrounding structures have taken since its closure. this meant we jumped a few time to what sounded like pieces falling off of the towers when inside them however we quickly realised that it was the echo form the rubble bouncing off of the inside walls of the enormous cooling towers. after this the rest of the explore was smooth except for a dog barking in the background the whole time wondering if it was on site or not.
